Project Description

In the Spring of 2013, VDOT has purchased freight profile data from INRIX for July 2012 for 1,517 centerline miles of Virginia freeways. STL will use this data to create the Annual Hours of Truck Delay performance measure by TMC and corridor. STL will also compute the Annual Hours of Truck Delay performance measure by TMC and corridor using the regular INRIX data combined with the VDOT continuous count volume and classification data and, if necessary other data sources. After these metrics will be calculated, STL will compare the results to see if how well they align with each other by TMC and corridor.

The goal of this project is to see if it is possible to compute the Annual Hours of Truck Delay performance measure using only the general-purpose INRIX data (that VDOT is using for other needs in the agency) and internal data sources. In that case VDOT will not have to resort to purchasing additional specialized data from INRIX (truck profiles) to compute Annual Hours of Truck Delay, thereby saving money.
