Professor Smith Elected ASCE Fellow
Associate Professor Brian L. Smith, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, has been elected a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Professor Smith is the university director of the Smart Travel Laboratory and Center for Transportation Studies Associate Director, ITS. Dr. Smith is also a recipient of the ASCE Huber Research Prize, the CUTC-ARTBA New Faculty Member Award, the NSF CAREER award, an Eno Transportation Leadership Fellow, and a 2001-2002 University of Virginia Teaching Fellow. His research focuses on intelligent transportation systems (ITS), particularly in advanced transportation management & information technology application.
